SOME of Ripon’s leading business figures were given an insight into how hybrid vehicles can lower their operating costs at a special event hosted by Batchelors Mitsubishi in Ripon.

At a time when independent businesses are experiencing spiralling costs, the Dallamires Lane dealership introduced members of the Ripon & District Chamber of Trade to the game-changing Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – the UK’s best-selling Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle.

In addition to being able to try the Outlander PHEV for size, guests were treated to an overview of electric vehicle technology and the expertise that Batchelors is able to offer corporate customers. Attendees could see exactly how running an Outlander PHEV could affect their individual business costs thanks to the dealership’s accountancy team.

Ripon & District Chamber of Trade also chose the occasion to launch its brand new website at and conduct its annual meeting.

Julian Earl, Showroom Manager, said: “Tonight was all about awareness and changing the perceptions that many people have about alternative-fuelled vehicles. With Benefit-in-Kind taxation from only 7%, a class-leading all-electric range of 33 miles and fuel economy of up to 166 mpg, the Mitsubishi PHEV offers business users a great way to have a spacious, practical car that can help their finances go further, while at the same time enabling them to help protect their local environment.”

Stephen Craggs, Secretary, Ripon & District Chamber of Trade, added: “As a bit of a petrol head, I had a lot of pre-conceived ideas about electric and hybrid cars, but tonight has changed all that. The PHEV is a proper car and how it could help businesses save money is quite something.”

“We’re delighted to have worked with Batchelors on the event and it’s been good for the Chamber to interact with such a welcoming and successful business.”
