GunsOnPegs teams up with Mitsubishi Motors in the UK
THE UK’s number one shoot finder has teamed up with Mitsubishi Motors to put the UK’s number one plug-in hybrid vehicle to the test.
GunsOnPegs is using an Outlander PHEV, the world’s first 4×4 plug-in hybrid SUV, to travel around the country visiting the 3,500 shoots registered with it.
The plug-in hybrid’s four-wheel-drive capability is being put to good use, as Tom Adams, shoot account manager at GunsOnPegs, explained.
‘The Outlander PHEV is the ideal vehicle for us because it’s a quality vehicle on the road but it can also handle the rough terrain that we need to negotiate when driving around shoots all over the UK in every type of weather,’ he said.
‘It’s also got fantastic boot space for all the kit we have to carry and it’s comfortable for clients.’
GunsOnPegs is a market place with 82,000 members where people can buy and sell game-shooting days. The company has formed a partnership with Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, which has also seen it borrow an L200 pick-up over the winter.
Toby Marshall, director of sales and marketing at Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said: ‘The Outlander PHEV has outstanding eco credentials, quiet running and fantastic 4×4 capability so it’s perfect for the team at GunsonPegs. It boasts impressive fuel economy and ultra-low emissions, while its electric and petrol power combined give it a range of well over 500 miles, with up to 32 miles in electric mode alone, so it will save the business money.’
As well as its official fuel consumption figure of 156 miles per gallon, the Outlander PHEV’s low emissions of just 42g of CO2 per kilometre mean there’s no vehicle tax to pay. It’s also exempt from the congestion charge and it qualifies for the Government’s plug-in car grant, too.
The Outlander PHEV has been scooping award after award since its launch. In 2014, it won Diesel Car’s Best Alternative Fuel Vehicle award as well as Business Car’s Best Green Development gong in its Techie Awards, while last year, Scotland’s national newspaper The Scotsman awarded it the title of Plug-in Vehicle of the Year and Next Green Car made it SUV of the Year in its annual awards.
In addition, the Outlander PHEV was awarded the title of Best Ultra Low Emission Vehicle at the prestigious Fleet World Honours both last year and this year.
